More about Vintage Multi-Centerchrono Circa 1940s SS
This is a vintage c. 1940's stainless steel Mido Multi-Centerchrono. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a domed plexiglass crystal. There is a screw-down solid dodecagon-shaped case back, engraved with "Mido – Waterproof Impermeable – Anti Choc – Multi-Centerchrono – Switzerland – Antimagnetic Rustless steel. There is a soft iron anti-magnetic inner dust cap. The body was made by famous case makers, FB/Taubert et Fils, who also made cases for Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. It has the original round chronograph pushers with sunray engraving. The 34.5mm diameter solid two-body case, lapidated downturned lugs, and angled bezel have the original polished/brushed finish. It has the original black dial, luminous epee hands, and center sweep chronograph hand. There are aged Arabic numeral hour markers, inside of which are red Arabic numerals for the 24-hour scale. There is an outer telemeter track, and around the perimeter is a 60-second pulsometer scale with Arabic numerals every 5 seconds. The 12mm thick case, dial and movement are all signed. The mechanical manual winding Mido caliber 1300 movement is based on the Valjoux VZ engine. It's copper colored, and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber protector, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes an anti-magnetic monometallic balance, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and an index regulator. This rare Mido Multi-Centerchrono has a column-wheel chronograph with two centrally mounted hands measure elapsed time in seconds & minutes rather than subsidiary dials.
