This is a vintage c. 1950's stainless steel Minerva Calendar Chronograph VF 712. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. There is a screw-down sold case back engraved in the center with "Minerva – Swiss Made," and the reference number "VF 712." Around the perimeter is engraved "Water and Shock Resistant – Antimagnetic – Incabloc – Stainless Steel." Inside the case back is the Minerva Watch Co. hallmark and the serial number. There are correctors in the left case band at 8:30 and 10 o'clock for the calendar, and there are round chronograph pushbuttons. The 36mm diameter solid three-body case, straight downturned lugs, and angled bezel are polished. The original dial is silver with blued feuille hands with luminous inserts, a center sweep seconds chronograph hand, and applied steel baton hour indices with an Arabic numeral 12. There is a 60-minute/one-fifth second track with Arabic numerals every five minutes. Around the perimeter is a blue date scale that's indicated by a second blued steel center hand with a red arrow tip. There are twin rectangular aperture windows underneath 12 o'clock with the day and month. It has three slightly recessed silver subsidiary dials, including a running seconds indicator at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute register at 3 o'clock. The 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Minerva Calendar Chronograph VF 712 has a mechanical manual winding Valjoux caliber 72C movement that's rhodium plated. It's constructed with 17 jewels, and notable Incabloc shock protection. It includes a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance, a self-compensating steel Breguet balance spring, and an index regulator.
