This is a vintage c. 1960s stainless steel Universal Geneve Space-Compax 885104/02. It has an integral Universal Geneve stainless steel bracelet with an "HC" maker's mark, a deployment clasp, and a plexiglass crystal. There is a screw-down winding crown, and the screw-down chronograph push buttons have black rubber tips. There is a solid screw-down case back. The 38mm diameter solid three-body case, integral lugs, bracelet, and revolving 60-minute time bezel are polished/brushed. The bezel is black with a knurled rim, Arabic numerals, and baton index markers. It has the original black dial and original baton steel hands with yellow luminous inserts that match the luminous baton hour indices on the dial. There is a red center sweep chronograph hand, and a perimeter minute/one-fifth seconds track. It has a date aperture window at 12 o'clock, and there are three recessed black subsidiary dials including a running seconds indicator at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour totalizer at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute register at 3 o'clock. It's water resistant to 20 meters/75 feet, and the 15mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Universal Geneve Space-Compax 885104/02 has a mechanical manual winding Valjoux caliber 72 movement. It's rhodium-plated, and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The Universal Geneve Space-Compax 885104/02 was Universal Genève’s last great mechanical chronograph, powered by the famous Valjoux 72, the same movement in vintage Rolex Daytona watches.
