More about Patek Philippe Reference No. 5496P-014
This is a platinum Patek Philippe Retrograde Perpetual Calendar 5496P-014. It has an angled bezel and a satinated brown dial with applied baton index hour markers, and a sweep second hand. It has a retrograde date hand with a perpetual calendar array of apertures, including the day, month, and leap year. A moon phase sub dial is at 6 o'clock, and the interchangeable display case back has a sapphire crystal. It's water resistant to a depth of 30m. The alligator strap has a matching platinum deployant buckle and the case, dial, and movement are all signed.
The automatic calibre 324 S QR movement is rhodium-plated with fausses cotes decoration and the stamp of the Patek Philippe mark of quality. It's constructed with 30 jewels and 361 parts, a shock absorber mechanism, a straight-line lever escapement, and a self-compensating free-sprung flat balance spring. Included is the patented Patek Philippe Gyromax balance that compensates for cold, heat, isochronism, and 5 positions. It has a 45 hour power reserve, and it oscillates at 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
Patek introduced their first perpetual calendar wristwatch with a retrograde date and aperture for moon phases at the Basel Fair in 1993.
