This is a vintage c. 1970 Heuer Autavia GMT Chronograph 2446C. It has a shell cordovan strap with a stainless steel Heuer tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has fluted chronograph push buttons, a screw-down winding crown, and a solid snap-down antimagnetic case back. The 39mm diameter solid three-body case, lapidated straight angled lugs, and flat revolving red and blue "Pepsi" bezel with knurled edge and second GMT 24-hour diurnal/nocturnal time zone, are polished/brushed. The dial black with luminous baton hour markers and red accents on the perimeter minute/one-fifth second chapter ring, and steel baton hands with red accents and red arrow tips. It includes a red center sweep chronograph hand, and a GMT hand with a luminous arrow tip that indicates the white Arabic numerals on the bezel. There are three recessed silver guilloche subsidiary dials, including a running small seconds register at 9 o'clock, a 30-minute chronograph totalizer at 3 o'clock, and a 12-hour indicator is at 6 o'clock. It was originally water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and the 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Heuer Autavia GMT Chronograph 2446C has a mechanical manual winding Valjoux 724 (base Valjoux 72) movement. It's rhodium plated, and constructed with 17 jewels, an Incabloc shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It has a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The Heuer Autavia GMT Chronograph 2446C is the second generation of its kind, and it was introduced in 1968, and produced until 1970. The name "Autavia" comes from a combination of Automotive and Aviation.
