More about Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Duoface SS UNWORN

This is a stainless steel Jaeger LeCoultre Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Duoface, Q3788570. It has an alligator leather strap with a matching stainless steel pin buckle. The ultra-thin, five-body art deco tonneau-shaped case is polished and the front face has hour and minute functions, with a white opaline dial, black transferred baton hour-marker indexes, baton hands, and a subsidiary square small seconds dial at 6 o'clock. The back face has a velvety black Clous de Paris guilloche design, with black baton hands. It has a centered second time zone with a small 24-hour display at 6 o'clock, and a day/night indicator. There is a 45-hour power reserve and it's water resistant to 30 meters. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. The manual winding Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 854/1 movement is rhodium plated, with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 21 jewels, 180 parts, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a shock absorber mechanism, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a swan-neck micrometer regulator. A single movement drives the two dials, and the mechanism vibrates at 21,600 vph (3 Hz). In 1931 Jaeger-LeCoultre's Cesar de Trey and French designer Renee-Alfred Chauvot designed the innovative Art Deco style Reverso watch. It was inspired by a challenge from polo players to make a wristwatch that would withstand the abuse of their active sport. The Duoface was first introduced in 1994, the radical concept being the reading of a second time zone on the back face of the reversible watch.
