This is a vintage c. 1950's 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe, reference 2443. It has an alligator leather strap with an 18K yellow gold tang buckle, and a curved "bombe" glass crystal. The solid snap-on case back is free of any engraving (although rare now, this was a popular "presentation watch" for important gifts in the 50's). The 26mm by 39.5mm tonneau-shaped solid two-body case, the rectangular overhanging sculptural lugs, and the curved flat bezel are polished. The dial is silver with yellow gold baton hands, applied faceted gold baton hour indices, and a perimeter minute scale. There is a constant seconds subsidiary dial at the 6 o'clock position. The 8.9mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 9"'-90 movement is rhodium plated, with fausses-côtes embellishment. It's constructed with 18 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a cut bimetallic balance. It includes a Breguet self-compensating flat balance spring, and a micrometer regulator.
