More about Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968 Platinum Limited

This is a platinum Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968, reference q2006440. It has a tooled calfskin strap with a platinum tang buckle, and a domed acrylic crystal. There is a solid inner sealed case back that is also a resonance chamber for the Memovox alarm. The outer case back has 4 sets of 4 recessed holes that allow for the optimal expansion of the alarm sound underwater. It's engraved with the original compressor diving helmet, the edition number of 165, and the inner case back has technical references concerning the water resistance of 200 meters/650 feet. There is a bi-directional rotating inner bezel under the crystal that's set by the crown at the 2 o'clock position. There is another inner rotating dial with a luminous triangle that indicates the alarm time, adjusted with the crown at 1 o'clock. The 42mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, and thin flat bezel are polished. The dial is gloss black with applied white gold Arabic numerals at 6, 9, and 12 o'clock, and baton indices around a dot minute/second track with luminescent baton hour markers and luminous Arabic numerals at the quarter hours. It has luminous Dauphine hands, and a center sweep seconds hand. There is a date aperture window at 3 o'clock that's adjusted by the crown at the 3 o'clock position. The third crown at 4 o'clock sets the time & allows for manually winding the movement. It has a 45-hour power reserve at full wind, and the 17.52mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding Jaeger LeCoultre caliber 956 movement is rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 23 jewels, 268 components, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. There is a monometallic balance, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). The Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968, reference q2006440A, honors the original Polaris Diving watch produced from 1965 through 1970.
