More about Universal Geneve 12268 Tri-Compax 18K Yellow Gold / Silver Dial 36MM

CASE: The case on this Universal Geneve is very thick and appears to have been polished only a few times in its 70 year life. Lugs are all very sharp and still retain original details.

DIAL: The dial on this watch is fantastic! It appears to be in original unaltered condition. The paint on the signature is still bold and intact. All hands appear to be original to the watch. The disk has not faded and is still bold in color. There is a small scratch at 2PM but was left as is.

MOVEMENT: The caliber 481 movement is in very good working condition and was just serviced.

STRAP: This watch is offered on a brown shell cordovan strap with a gold plated tang buckle. Alternatives available upon request.

This model was worn by Harry Truman at the signing of the Potsdam declaration in 1945. Universal Geneve produced completely in house movements and were the first company to manufacture a chronograph watch. The brand was imported to the US by the Henri Stern watch agency, the same agency that was the distributor for Patek Phillipe.
