More about Vintage Speedmaster Pre-Moon SS ORIGINAL OWNER

This is a vintage c. 1968 stainless steel Omega Speedmaster, 145.012-67 SP. It has a Hesalite crystal. The case was produced by Huguenin Freres (with an HF hallmark), and it has the original dial, hands, and "Dot Over 90" tachymeter bezel with graduations to 500 UPH. The 42mm diameter solid three-body case, anti-magnetic protection cap, flat lugs, and Speedmaster logo solid screw-down case back are polished/brushed. The dial is black with luminous baton hour index markers, luminous white baton hands, and the distinctive white arrow-tipped center chronograph hand. The black dial and graduated tachymeter bezel are also original, as are the luminous baton hour index markers. There is an outer 1/5 seconds track, luminous skeletonized baton hands, and a central chronograph hand with the distinctive arrow tip indicator. There is a constant seconds subsidiary dial at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour sub dial at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute sub dial at the 3 o'clock position. The 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical manual winding Omega caliber 321 movement is copper, with a shock absorber mechanism. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance with timing screws, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and an index regulator. This watch was purchased from the son of the original owner. Also, this model (145.012) is confirmed by Omega as the first Speedmaster to visit the moon with the Apollo 11 crew in 1969, and is the same model that was worn by Buzz Aldrin in his historic first steps.
