This is a ceramic/titanium IWC Big Pilot TOP GUN Miramar IW324702. It uncludes a military olive green strap with a titanium tang buckle. The solid two-body, 48 mm. diameter case is polished and brushed PVD ceramic with a titanium screwed-down winding crown and a solid screw down case back with the engraved Top Gun U.S.N. Fighter Weapons School logo and "UNITED STATES NAVY – TOP GUN – FIGHTER WEAPONS SCHOOL – IWC -PILOT'S WATCH – TOP GUN MIRAMAR – 6 BAR." It has downturned lugs, a stepped bezel, and a sapphire scratch-resistant crystal with anti-reflective coatings on both surfaces that is secured against any displacement by sudden drops in air pressure. A soft iron inner case secures the mechanism against magnetic fields. The dial is anthracite grey with luminous Arabic minute markers, baton/arrow indexes, an outer track with minute/seconds divisions, luminous epee hands, and a sweep seconds hand. An inner red time ring has Arabic hour numerals. A square date aperture is at 6 o'clock, and a subsidiary power reserve dial at 3 o'clock. The power reserve is seven days at full wind, and it's water resistant to 60 meters. The 11mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This IWC Big Pilot TOP GUN Miramar IW324702 has a mechanical automatic winding caliber 5111 movement with the patented Pellaton winding system for the automatic bidirectional rotor. It includes a shock absorber mechanism, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic Glucydor beryllium alloy balance with high-precision adjustment cam on balance arms, and a Breguet self-compensating flat balance spring. It has an index regulator, and a central hacking seconds device. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The IWC Big Pilot TOP GUN Miramar IW324702 with its polished ceramic cases, luminous beige hands, chapter ring, and green textile strap are inspired by military colors. It was released c. 2016, a tribute to the birthplace of the Top Gun pilots’ school of the US Marines in Miramar, California. The distinctive separation of the dial into an external chapter ring and a red inner hour circle is inspired by the historical legacy of the pilot deck watches of the 1930s and 1940s.
