More about Rare Vintage TRE TACCHE Black Luminous Dial

This is a stainless steel vintage c. 1940's Longines Tre Tacche 21764. It has an Ostrich leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has a pull out winding crown, and a "Tre Tacche" screw down case back, which is Italian for "three notches," describing the triple indentations. It's engraved with "21764," and a serial number, and inside the engine turned case back it's engraved "LONGINES-ACIER INOX." The 35mm diameter solid two-body case, fixed spring bars, and flat stepped bezel are polished/brushed. The original "Gilt" military-style dial is gloss black with luminous Arabic numeral hour markers inside a white railroad-style minute scale. It has the original steel hands with luminous inserts. The term "gilt dial" refers to the brass plate finish that was applied by a galvanic process; the markings are the raw brass showing through. It has a power reserve of 41-hours, and the 11mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Longines Tre Tacche 21764 has a 10L mechanical manually wound movement. It has 17 jewels, a U781 balance staff, a bimetallic screw balance, and a Breguet hairspring. It has an index regulator, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). The Longines Tre Tacche 21764 was introduced in 1940, and was produced until 1949.
