This is a vintage 1960 stainless steel Omega Speedmaster Pre-Professional Pre-Space Second Generation 2998-1. It has the original integral stainless steel expandable bracelet (Ref. 7077) with a double folding deployment clasp, 6 end links, round chronograph push buttons, and a hesalite crystal. It has a Nyad "Mercedes" winding crown, and the solid screw down case back includes a dust cover and the engraved Speedmaster logo. The 39.5mm diameter solid thee-body case, bracelet, straight lugs, and winding crown are polished/brushed. It has the original black dial, applied luminous baton hour markers, a white tachymeter graduation to 1000 UPH, the original steel dagger hands with luminous inserts, and a luminous central white center sweep "Lolipop" baton chronograph seconds hand (making it a rare historical variant). It includes an outer track with minute/seconds and 1/5th seconds divisions, and the Omega logo is at 12 o'clock. There is a recessed black constant small seconds subsidiary dial at the 9 o'clock position, a 30-minute sub dial at 3 o'clock, and a 12-hour dial at 6 o'clock. The 13.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Omega Speedmaster Pre-Professional Pre-Space Second Generation 2998-1 has a mechanical manual winding Omega caliber 321 movement. It's copper-colored, and it's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance. It includes a self-compensating flat balance spring, and an index regulator. The Omega Speedmaster Pre-Professional Pre-Space Second Generation 2998-1 is extremely rare, and it was only made in 1960.
