More about Enamel Dial 2526 Automatic Radium Indexes RARE

This is a vintage 1956 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Radium Enamel Dial 2526. It has an alligator leather strap with a yellow gold tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. The screw down winding crown has the PP logo, and there is a screw down solid case back, inside of which is stamped "PATEK PHILIPPE & CO – GENEVE – SWISS," several hallmarks, and a serial number. The 18k guilloche gold rotor has the Patek Philippe seal. The 35.5mm diameter solid two-body case, gently curved lugs, and stepped bezel, are polished. The dial is white enamel in outstanding original condition, with applied gold boat-shaped baton hour indices around a perimeter gold dot minute scale, with the original radium lume. There are gold dauphine hands, and a white running small seconds subsidiary dial with gold markings is at the 6 o'clock position. It's water resistant, and the 11.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Radium Enamel Dial 2526 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Patek Philippe caliber 12-600 AT movement that's stamped with the Geneva quality seal. It's rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment, and it's constructed with 30 jewels, bi-directional winding, a straight-line lever escapement, and a Gyromax balance adjusted for cold, heat, isochronism and five positions. There is a shock absorber device, an 18K gold guilloche rotor with the Patek Philippe seal, a self-compensating Breguet free-sprung balance spring, and a swan-neck micrometer regulator. The Patek Philippe Radium Enamel Dial 2526 was the company's first self-winding wristwatch, initially introduced in 1952, ushering in the era of the automatic. This is the first and still one of the very finest automatic wristwatches ever made, and a mid-20th century hallmark. It was produced in a small edition of 580 examples.
