More about Vintage "Economy Series" PANDA Dial Valjoux 7736 Circa 1970s

This is a vintage c. 1970's stainless steel Heuer "Economy Series" 73623T. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has the original Heuer winding crown, "pump" style round chronograph push buttons, and a screw down solid case back inside of which is stamped "HEUER – LEONIDAS SA – SWISS – STAINLESS STEEL". THE 35mm diameter solid three-body case, straight lugs, and thin rounded bezel, are polished/brushed. It includes the original silver dial with applied faceted baton hour markers. It has the original steel baton hands with luminous inserts, and a steel center sweep chronograph seconds hand. There are three recessed black subsidiary dials with white Arabic numerals, markers, and hands, including a running small seconds register at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute totalizer at 3 o'clock. It has a 45-hour power reserve at full wind, and the 13.6mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Heuer "Economy Series" 73623T has a mechanical manual winding Valjoux caliber 7736 chronograph movement that's rhodium-plated. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, an index regulator, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). This Heuer is part of the "Economy Series" of watches that were produced alongside the named models of Carrera's, Monaco's, etc. These models featured the same movements as the named models, but the cases were easier and less expensive to produce which allowed Heuer to offer them to customers at an entry-level price.
