More about MB&F Legacy Machine LM2 Legacy Machine No 2 18k White Gold

This is an 18K white gold MB&F (Maximilian Busser & Friends) Legacy Machine No. 2, LM-2. It has a leather strap with an 18k white gold tang buckle, and a domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal exhibition case back secured with 8 screws. The screw down winding crown is at the two o'clock position, and the solid three-body 44mm diameter case, curved lugs, and flat bezel, are polished/brushed. The larger dial in the background has a gray sunray pattern, and the time dial is white lacquer with fine black Roman numeral hour markers. It has blued white gold hands, and 2 spoke 11mm balance wheels are mounted above the dial; the Planetary differential wheel at 6 o'clock is pinioned by a double-arch mirror polished bridge, that transmits the average rate of the two flying balance wheels to the single gear train providing greater economy with decreased rate variations. It has a 45-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 20mm thick case (with bubble dome crystal), dial, and movement are all signed. This MB&F (Maximilian Busser & Friends) Legacy Machine No. 2, LM-2 has a mechanical manual winding caliber that was developed exclusively for MB&F by Jean-François Mojon and Kari Voutilainen. It has a single mainspring barrel and a planetary differential with 3 gears and 5 pinions that communicates the average rate of the twin regulators to the single gear train. It's constructed with 44 jewels, 241 components, and gold chatons with polished countersinks. It's rhodium plated with fine hand finishing in the 19th century style, including polished internal bevel angles, and Geneva wave patterns with hand-engraved embellishment. It includes two bespoke balance wheels with four regulating screws that are suspended above the movement and dials: each spin at their own rate. It includes a traditional Breguet curve balance spring terminating with a stud holder, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz).

The MB&F (Maximilian Busser & Friends) Legacy Machine No. 2, LM-2 was introduced in 2013. The MB&F Legacy watches celebrate past horologic masters who first experimented with dual regulators, including Abraham Louis Breguet (1747-1807), Ferdinand Berthoud (1727-1807), and Antide Janvier (1751-1835).
