More about Vintage Speedmaster SS 1974

This is a 1971 stainless steel Omega Speedmaster 145.022-71 ST. It has a leather strap, a stainless steel Omega tang buckle, and an Omega acrylic crystal. It has a screw-down solid case back with a dust cap, and the Speedmaster logo, engraved with the words: "Flight qualified by NASA for all manned space missions and "The first watch worn on the moon." The 42mm diameter solid three-body case, integral lugs, and bracelet are polished/brushed. The dial is black with applied luminous baton hour markers, and a minute/second track with 1/5 seconds divisions. It has aged white baton hands, a center chronograph hand, and an outer tachymeter on the black bezel to 500 units per hour. There is a constant small seconds subsidiary dial at the 9 o'clock position, a 12-hour register at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute sub dial at 3 o'clock. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and the 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical manual winding Omega caliber 861 movement is rose gold plated, with a shock absorber mechanism. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance that's adjusted for temperature and 5 positions. It includes a self-compensating flat balance spring, and an index regulator.
