More about IWC IW500107 Portuguese 7 Day SS / Blue Numerals

This is a stainless steel IWC Portuguese 7 Day, IW500107. The leather strap has a stainless tang buckle, and there is a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a screw-down exhibition sapphire display case back with antireflective coating, and a screw-down winding crown. The 42mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs and rounded bezel are polished, and there is a date aperture window at 6 o'clock. The dial is silver with applied blued steel Arabic numeral hour markers, an outer minute track with dot divisions, and blued steel feuille hands. A constant seconds sub dial with a stop function is at the 9 o'clock position, and the 7-day power reserve dial is at 3. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

The automatic self-winding IWC Pellaton caliber 5000 movement is rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 44 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a shock absorber mechanism. It has a Glucydur®* beryllium alloy balance with high-precision adjustment cam on balance arms, and a self-compensating Breguet balance spring. There is a skeletonized bi-directional rotor with an 18K gold medallion inlay engraved "IWC -Probus Scafusia," (Fine Schaffhausen).

This model references the first IWC Portuguese watches of the 1930's, with the railway track chapter ring, Arabic numerals, and feuille hands. It debuted in 2004.
