The 42mm solid three-body case, curved lugs, and flat angled bezel, and bracelet, are polished. It has a white dial with applied faceted rose gold baton hour indices around a perimeter black minute/second scale. It includes rose gold baton hands, and a gold center sweep second hand. There are four recessed white subsidiary dials with black Arabic numerals and gold indicator hands, including a combination day/running small seconds register at 9 o'clock, a month/12-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock, a date dial at 3 o'clock, and there is a moon phase/30-minute chronograph totalizer at 12 o'clock. There is a four-digit year aperture window between 7 and 8 o'clock, and it has a power reserve of 44-hours at full winding. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 16mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This IWC "Grande Complication" Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar Chronograph IW9270 has a mechanical automatic IWC caliber 79091 (base ETA/Valjoux 7750) developed in 1991 with an additional in-house IWC perpetual calendar module and minute-repetition mechanism. The IWC "Grande Complication" Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar Chronograph IW9270 was introduced in 1990 at the Basel Fair limited to 50 Pieces Per Year, IWC's first grand complication wrist watch. Adding to Kurt Klaus' perpetual calendar module, IWC added a minute repeater to the already complex movement.
