More about RGM 801-COE "Corps of Engineers" SS Limited

This is a 316L stainless steel RGM Corps of Engineers 801-COE. It has a suede leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a pull out winding crown, and a screw down exhibition sapphire display case back engraved with "RGM WATCH CO. - USA – CALIBER 801," a serial number and hallmark. The 42mm diameter solid two-body case, straight lugs, and rounded bezel, are polished/brushed. The dial is glass fired deep white Grand Feu ("Great Fire") enamel, with luminous Arabic numeral hour markers around a black railroad-style minute scale with black Arabic numerals every five seconds to 60. It has blued steel hands with fancy luminous inserts and needle tips, and there is a large recessed white subsidiary running small seconds dial with black markers, Arabic numerals, and a railroad-style scale at the 6 o'clock position. It's water resistant to 50 meters/165 feet, it has a 44-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 10.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This RGM Corps of Engineers 801-COE has a mechanical manual winding RGM caliber 801 movement. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve and perlage embellishment, and it's marked "LANCASTER PENNA. U.S.A." It's constructed with 19 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, an anti-shock device, and blued screws. It includes a unique RGM 7-tooth winding click, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). The RGM 801-COE was introduced in 2015, inspired by the US Corps of Engineers, referenced by the general railroad timepiece standards of 1893.
