More about Breguet 3820 Type XX Transatlantique SS

This is a stainless steel Breguet Type XX Transatlantique 3820. It has an integral stainless steel link Breguet bracelet with a double deployment buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The chronograph has round pushbuttons and a fly back function, and the solid case back and crown are screwed down. The 39.5mm diameter solid three-body case, bi-directional revolving graduated 60-minute angled reeded bezel with black Arabic numerals every ten minutes, downturned lugs, solid case back, and reeded band are polished/brushed. The dial is black with applied luminous white Arabic numeral hour markers and applied tritium-rimmed square indices, a center sweep chronograph hand with a round luminous indicator, an outer minute track, and steel baton hands with luminous Tritium inserts and needle tips. There is a subsidiary running small seconds dial at the 9 o'clock position, a 12-hour sub dial at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute register at 3 o'clock. It includes a white-rimmed date aperture window at 6 o'clock, and it's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet. It has a 48-hour power reserve, and the 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This Breguet Type XX Transatlantique 3820 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Breguet caliber 582Q movement that's rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment, and a shock absorber mechanism. It's constructed with 25 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, and a self-compensating flat balance spring.

The Type XX military-style wrist chronograph with a fly back function was first produced in 1954 for the French naval air force.
