More about Vintage Datejust Silver Dial SS / SS Circa 1973

This is a vintage 1973 stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 1603. It has stainless steel jubilee bracelet, and an acrylic crystal. It has a screw down winding crown, and a solid screw down case back inside of which is engraved "MONTRES ROLEX GENEVA SWITZERLAND PATENTED STAINLESS STEEL." The 36mm diameter solid three-body case, gently curved lugs, and fluted fixed bezel, are polished/brushed. The dial is silver with applied faceted white gold baton hour indices with luminous pips, around a black perimeter flange minute/second scale. It has white gold baton hands with luminous inserts, a center sweep seconds hand, and there is a date aperture window at the 3 o'clock position underneath a Cyclops magnification lens. It includes a Certified Official Superlative Chronometer (COSC) rating, and it has a 44-hour power reserve at full winding. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 1603 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 1570 movement. It's rhodium-plated, with oeil de perdrix and fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 26 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperature and five positions, and a KIF Flector shock-absorber device. It includes a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a hacking seconds device for precision time setting. The mechanism oscillates at 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 1603 was introduced in 1960, and it was produced until 1983.
