This is an 18k rose gold A. Lange & Sohne 1815 "Sidestep" 222.048. It includes an 18k rose gold case on an alligator leather strap with a signed 18k rose gold tang buckle. It has a signed pull-out winding crown and an exhibition sapphire display crystal case back secured with 6 screws and it's engraved with "A. LANGE & SOHNE – GLASHUTTE IN SACHSEN – WEMPE – 125 JAHRE 1878-2003," hallmarks and a serial number. The 36mm diameter solid two-body case, curved lugs, and convex bezel, are polished. It has a black dial with a large recessed central circle and applied white gold Arabic numeral hour markers inside a luminous white railway-style minute/hour scale. It includes rose gold dauphine sword hour and minute hands, and there is an offcenter silver recessed subsidiary dial at 4 o'clock for the constant running small seconds with black Arabic numerals and a blued "observatoire" style indicator hand. It has a 45-hour power reserve at full winding, it's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 7.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This A. Lange & Sohne 1815 "Sidestep" 222.048 has a mechanical manual winding A.Lange & Sohne caliber L944.1 movement. It's rhodium plated and has a hand engraved German silver ¾ plate with gold roses (inspired by the Meissen Porcelain's Strew Roses of 1815). It's constructed with 21 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and an anti-shock system. It has a monometallic balance, a micrometer regulator, a self-compensating flat balance spring, blued screws, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). The A. Lange & Sohne 1815 "Sidestep" 222.048 was released in 2003 in an edition of 75 examples in rose gold made for the 125th anniversary of the retailer Wempe.
