More about Tank Basculante Mecanique SS

This is a stainless-steel Cartier Tank Basculante Mecanique XL 2390. It includes an alligator leather strap with a stainless-steel case tang buckle and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. Unlike the reverse, this case flips up with the cabriolet pivot system and will revolve 360 degrees. It has a winding crown at the top of the case underneath a sapphire cabochon at 12 o'clock and the 25.5mm by 38.5mm rectangular tonneau three-body case, solid case back, straight lugs, and stepped convex rectangular bezel, are polished/brushed. It includes blued Cartier sword hour and minute hands, and the dial is silver sunray guilloche with the "secret" Cartier signature in the VII. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 42-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 6mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Cartier Tank Basculante Mecanique XL 2390 has a mechanical manual winding Cartier caliber 050MC (based on the Frederic Piguet caliber 6.10) movement. It's rhodium plated with Cartier embellishment and it's constructed with 21 jewels, a three-spoke Glucydur balance wheel, a KIF anti-shock system, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz). Introduced c. 2000, this very rare Cartier 2390 Tank Basculante Mecanique is believed to have only been sold only in the Paris Boutique.
