More about Vintage Carrera Valjoux 72 Circa 1970

This is a vintage c. 1970 stainless steel Heuer Carrera 2447D. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has the original Heuer winding crown, "pump" style round chronograph push buttons, and a screw down solid case back inside of which is stamped "Heuer – LEONIDAS SA – SWISS – STAINLESS STEEL". THE 35mm diameter solid three-body case, straight lugs, and thin rounded bezel, are polished/brushed. It includes the original silver second execution dial with applied faceted baton hour markers with luminous dots, around a recessed perimeter decimal minutes scale. It has steel baton hands with luminous inserts, and a black center sweep chronograph seconds hand. There are three recessed silver subsidiary dials with black Arabic numerals, markers, and hands, including a running small seconds register at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o'clock, and there is a 30-minute totalizer at 3 o'clock. It has a 48-hour power reserve at full wind, and the 12.4mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Heuer Carrera 2447D has a mechanical manual winding Valjoux caliber 72 column wheel chronograph movement that's rhodium-plated. It's constructed with 17 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, an index regulator, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz). The Heuer Carrera 2447D second execution was listed in the Heuer catalog from 1970 and 1971.
