This is a platinum IWC Portofino Perpetual Calendar (Romana), reference 2050. It has an alligator leather strap with an IWC platinum tang buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. There is a screw-down solid brushed case back secured with 6 screws, engraved with "Platinum," the serial number, and hallmarks. A date corrector is on the case band at 11 o'clock, and the 36mm diameter solid two-body case, straight angled lugs, and angled bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is light grey with painted Roman numeral hour markers around a minute track. It has blued steel feuille hands, and the two-digit year window is between 7 and 8 o'clock. There are four recessed subsidiary dials including a day indicator at 9 o'clock, a month register at 6 o'clock, a date dial at 3 o'clock, and a moon phase indicator is at the 12 o'clock position. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 6mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical manual winding IWC caliber 18561 lever movement is nickel-finished with fausses côtes embellishment. It's constructed with 35 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a self-compensating flat balance-spring. The IWC Portofino Perpetual Calendar Romana, reference 2050, was introduced in 1994, and it is believed to be the slimmest perpetual calendar wristwatch ever made. The movement has a thickness of only 3.15mm. The 2050 remained in production until 1997.
