This is a stainless-steel IWC Portuguese Chronograph 371401. It includes an alligator leather strap with a stainless-steel deployment buckle and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a signed pull-out winding crown, "mushroom" style chronograph push buttons, and a solid case back secured with 4 screws and engraved with "INTERNATIONAL WATCH CO.," and a serial number. The 41mm diameter solid two-body case, curved lugs, and thin flat bezel, are polished/brushed. The dial is silver with gold gold applied Arabic numeral hour markers surrounded by a gold pip minute/second scale. It has gold feuille leaf hour and minute hands, a blued center sweep second hand, and there is a white perimeter rehaut with a black Arabic numeral 60-minute/second scale. It includes twin round recessed subsidiary dials with black Arabic numerals, markers, and gold indicator hands, including a 30-minute chronograph totalizer at 12 o'clock, and there is a constant running small seconds register at 6 o'clock. It's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, it has a 44-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This IWC Portuguese Chronograph 371401 has a mechanical automatic self-winding caliber 79240 (based on the ETA 7750) movement that's gilt brass with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 31 jewels, a monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions, and a straight-line lever escapement. There is a shock absorber mechanism and a, self-compensating flat balance spring, as well as a hacking seconds device. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The IWC Portuguese Chronograph 371401 was introduced in 1998 and it was produced until 2012.
