This is a vintage c. 1950's 18K yellow gold IWC Manual Wind Caliber 89. It has an alligator leather strap with an 18k yellow gold tang buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. There is a polished solid snap-on case back, and a push/pull winding crown. The 35.5mm diameter solid two-body case, and downturned lugs are polished. The dial is silver with applied faceted "boat-shaped" baton hour markers and Arabic numbers, gold "alpha" hands, and a center sweep seconds hand. There is a perimeter gold dot minute/second track. The 8.8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

This IWC manual wind caliber 89 has a mechanical manual winding IWC caliber 89 movement that's rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 18 jewels, an Incabloc shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 3 positions, a self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring, and an index regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz).

This IWC Manual Wind Caliber 89 was introduced in the 1950's. The venerable IWC manual winding caliber 89 movement was developed by IWC’s Albert Pellaton in 1946. It was utilized in manually wound IWC watches until the 1980's.
