More about Astronomia Solar 18k Rose Gold / Alligator LIMITED WOW

This is an exquisite rare 18 rose gold Jacob & Co Astronomia Solar AS300.40.AP.AK.A. It includes 18k two-body rose gold case, quick release blue alligator leather strap, open worked lugs and a domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coatings. It has a solid case back secured with 6 screws and a single-piece exhibition sapphire crystal curved window around the periphery of the case for viewing the movement of the planets. The case back is solid 18k rose gold with twin "flip-up" recessed "bows," (winding levers) for adjusting the astronomic lab and the time. It's engraved with "ASTRONOMIA SOLAR – AS300.40 – JACOB & COMPANY – GENEVE – SWISS MADE – AU750," hallmarks and a serial number. The 44.5mm diameter two-body case, curved open worked lugs, and thin convex bezel, are polished. The sky layer dial is dark blue titanium with white stars and the tourbillon, the time dial, and nine planets all revolve 360 degrees every ten minutes in a fascinating animatronic that was invented 224 years ago, but refined here to a "Disney" quality animation. The large circular dark blue time dial has 12 gold hand-engraved and filled Zodiac images and sectors to define the hours, and broad gold Dauphine-style blunt hour and minute hands. There is an 18k rose gold open worked flying tourbillon structure with a Jacob & Co logo that rotates in 60 seconds. A 1.5ct. Jacob-cut citrine stone Sun is in the center with a hand-painted magnesium rose gold and blue lacquer earth and 7 more cabochon-cut or faceted precious stone planets including a Rhodonite Venus, a White Granite Mercury, a Pietersite for Jupiter, Red Jasper for Mars, Lapis Lazuli for Neptune, Blue Calcite for Uranus, and there is an 18K rose gold-ringed Tiger Eye Saturn. It has a 48-hour power reserve at full winding, it's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and the 22mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Jacob & Co Astronomia Solar AS300.40.AP.AK.A has a manual winding Jacob & Co JCAM19 double axis tourbillon movement with twin rotating platforms with three main arms that move the differential-driven, self-leveling time display which rotates 360 degrees counter-clockwise along with the Aventurine base and other celestial bodies every ten minutes. It's constructed with 43 jewels, circular graining, sandblasted plates and bridges, a polished sink and screws, an anti-shock device, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and the mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Solar Planet Watch AS300.40.AP.AK was released in a limited edition of only 101 examples in 2021.
