More about Master Compressor Dualmatic SS

This is a stainless steel Jaeger LeCoultre Master Compressor Dualmatic, 173.81.70. It has a leather strap with a matching stainless steel deployant buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The 41.5mm diameter solid three-body case, downturned lugs, and angled bezel are polished. It has a Bi-directional rotating bezel (underneath the crystal), which is set by the top crown at 2 o'clock. Both crowns have an external butterfly collar that turns 1/2 turn clock wise & counter clock wise (independently of the crown), both with red arrows that indicate the gaskets are sealed. Time and date setting functions are both set by the lower crown at the 4 o'clock position. There is a solid case back secured with 4 screws and the Master Compressor globe logo in high relief. The dial is anthracite with luminescent Arabic numeral hour markers at 6, 9, and 12 o'clock, dart indexes, and luminescent alpha hands. It has an outer graduated revolving disc for the dive time, and there is a half-moon aperture for the second time zone with a red indicating arrow between 9 and 12 o'clock, and a day/night indicator. It includes a small seconds subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock, and a date aperture window at 3. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and there is a 50-hour power reserve at full wind. The 13.2mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The automatic self-winding Jaeger LeCoultre caliber 972 movement is rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 29 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to six positions, and a self-compensating flat balance-spring. Jaeger LeCoultre began producing round, automatic watches in 1946, which were the forerunners to the Master Compressor line. This watch has passed a six-week, 1000-hour series of tests, the benchmark examination for all JLC timepieces.
