More about Vintage 1959 Calatrava 18k Yellow Gold 36MM
This is a vintage 1959 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Calatrava 2584. It has an alligator leather strap with an 18K gold tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has the original pull out signed winding crown, and a solid snap down case back. The 36mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned screwed lugs, and stepped bezel, are polished/brushed. The original silver dial has a raised enamel signature, pointed gold baton hands, applied yellow gold baton hour indices around a perimeter minute scale with white gold dots, and an applied gold Arabic numeral is at 12 o'clock. There is a running constant small seconds subsidiary dial at the 6 o'clock position, with black markers and a gold indicator hand. The 10mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Calatrava 2584 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Patek Philippe caliber 12-600T movement. It's rhodium plated with "fausses-côtes" embellishment, and it's stamped with the quality seal of Geneva. It's constructed with 30 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a Giromax monometallic balance with sunken adjustment weights that's adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and to 5 positions. It has a Parachoc anti-shock system, a self-compensating Breguet balance-spring, a swan neck index regulator, and an 18-carat barleycorn guilloché gold rotor with the PP seal. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 19,800 vph. The Patek Philippe Calatrava 2584 was introduced in the late 1950's, one of their first rare early automatic wristwatches.
