This is a vintage 1983 18K yellow gold Rolex GMT Master Root Beer 16758. It includes a shell cordovan leather strap with an 18k yellow gold tang buckle and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. There is a signed screw down Triplock winding crown with rounded crown protectors and a solid screw down case back on which the inside is engraved "MONTRES ROLEX SA – GENEVA – SWITZERLAND," and a reference number with hallmarks. The 40mm diameter solid 3-body case, up-curved lugs, and flat bi-directional knurled "Root Beer" brown bezel with GMT second 24-hour time zone and silver Arabic numerals on the even hours, are polished/brushed. The aged "Tiger Eye" nippled brown dial with an interesting grainy patina has chaton-set circular, rectangular and triangular "nipple" hour markers with aged tritium lume, and there are gold "Mercedes" Rolex minute and hour hands with luminous fill. It includes a gold GMT hand with a luminous arrow tip and a gold center sweep second hand with a round luminous "lollipop" indicator. It includes a quickset date aperture at 3 o'clock with a cyclops magnification lens. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, it has a 50-hour power reserve at full winding, and the 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex GMT Master Root Beer 16758 has an automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 3075 movement that's rhodium plated. It's constructed with 27 jewels, a KIF ultraflex shock absorber mechanism, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, and a self-compensating Breguet balance-spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). The Rolex GMT Master Root Beer 16758 was introduced in 1983.
