This is a stainless steel Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer 1846 263-22. It includes a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a solid screw-down case back secured with 6 screws and it's engraved with "ULYSSE NARDIN – 200 METERS – MARINE CHRONOMETER," and a serial number. In the center medallion are engraved the 18 gold medals won by Ulysse Nardin from 1869 to 1964. The 38mm diameter solid three-body case, knurled angled bezel, and integral downturned lugs are polished. The dial is silver with applied black steel Arabic numeral hour markers and raised round luminous pip indices inside a perimeter railroad-style minute track. It has spade and diamond-shaped "Poire" hour and minute hands with luminous inserts in the tips. There is a subsidiary small seconds dial with blue numerals and markers inside of which is a date aperture window at 6 o'clock marked with a red "1846." It has a blue up-and-down power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock, and it's water resistant to 200 meters/660 feet. It's a Certified Official Superlative Chronometer (COSC) and the 11mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer 1846 263-22 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Ulysse Nardin caliber UN 26 (base ETA caliber 2892-A2) movement. I's rhodium plated with oeil de perdrix and fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 28 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer 1846 263-22 was introduced c. 1996.
