More about Vintage Seamaster PloProf 600 Mk1 SS / SS

This is a vintage 1970 stainless steel Omega Seamaster PloProf 600 Mk1, 166.077. It has a stainless steel monobloc case on an integral stainless steel Omega link bracelet (1162) with a double deployant clasp, and a mineral crystal. It has a screwed-down winding crown with a full guard and patented locking device, and a flat solid case back with an anti-slip groove pattern. The bi-directional revolving black bezel is inclined and reeded, it's calibrated for 60 minutes of decompression time, and it's unlocked by depressing the red button in the band at the 2 o'clock position. The 55mm by 45mm solid two body oversized case, hooded lugs, and bracelet are polished/brushed. It has an aged blue dial with luminous baton hour index markers, a white hour and center sweep seconds hand, and a luminous sword minute hand. It includes a quick-set date aperture window at 3 o'clock. There is an outer minute/second track, it's water resistant to 600 meters/2000 feet, and it has a 40-hour power reserve at full wind. The 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding Omega caliber 1002 is copper-colored, and it's constructed with 20 jewels and a shock absorber mechanism. It has a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance, hacking seconds, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). This watch arrived in 1970. It was nicknamed PloProf by the French-speaking development team, based on the French term Plongeur Professionnel (Professional Diver).
