More about Series One Type 1005

This is a 316-alloy stainless steel Ressence Series One, Type 1, Type 1005. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel deployant clasp, and a double 3D sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, mounted flush with the bezel. It has a solid screw-down case back. The 42mm diameter solid three-body case, straight wire lugs, and stepped rounded bezel are polished. The dial is aluminum coated brown with luminescent hands and three grey-rimmed subsidiary dials – the largest one is for the hours and there is a smaller one for the constant seconds, and another the same size to indicate day/night. The main dial has a 60-minute track with Arabic numeral minute markers every five minutes. The entire dial with its sub dials rotates instead of having the hands move. It's all made of coated aluminum so it weighs less and rotates easily. The revolving module is driven by the Swiss automatic caliber ETA 2824-A2. The ETA movement is used because it generates enough force to move all the disks, which are heavier than standard hands. To set the time, the crown has a hidden latch that must be unlocked by flipping it up with a fingernail. When setting the time, the disks rotate in a fast-forward manner. It has a power reserve of 40-hours at full wind, and the 14mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding ETA caliber 2824-A2 movement is constructed with 25 jewels, a Nivaflex mainspring, an Anachron hairspring, and an Incabloc shock absorber mechanism. It includes a monometallic balance adjusted for isochronism and 5 positions, and the movement oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The Ressence Zero Series debuted in 2010; this Series One, Type 1, Type 1005 is the fifth version in the line. Belgian industrial designer, Benoît Mintiens, established Ressence in 2009. The name is a contraction of “Renaissance of the Essentials.”
