More about Calatrava 592 Stainless Steel / BLACK GLOSSY DIAL

This is a vintage c. 1940's stainless steel Patek Philippe Calatrava 592. It has an alligator strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. It has an original unsigned pull out winding crown and a solid snap down case back. The 33mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, and stepped rounded bezel are polished. The rare dial is glossy black with applied steel Roman numeral hour markers around a perimeter dot minute scale. It has polished steel baton hands, and a recessed black running seconds subsidiary dial with white markings, and the "Patek Philippe & Co." signature is still shiny and untouched. The 9mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Patek Philippe Calatrava 592 has a mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 12-120 movement. It's rhodium-plated, with fausses-côtes embellishment, and the quality seal of Geneva. It's constructed with 18 jewels, wolf ’s tooth winding, and a shock absorber device. It includes a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. It has a swan-neck micrometer regulator. The Patek Philippe Calatrava 592 was launched in 1938 and continued in production until the end of the 1940s.
