More about Date SS/SS COSC

This is a stainless steel c. 1968 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, reference 1500. It has an integral stainless steel folded-link Oyster bracelet, with a double deployant clasp, and an acrylic crystal. There is a screw-down solid case back inside of which is engraved, "Montres Rolex SA – Geneva – Switzerland – patented – Stainless Steel," and the reference number. There is a Twinlock screw-down winding crown, and the 35mm diameter solid three-body case, link bracelet, downturned lugs, and angled flat bezel are polished/brushed. It has an anti-magnetic case and movement. The dial is silver with applied faceted baton hour markers with luminous dots, and steel baton hands with luminous inserts. There is a minute/seconds track and a center sweep seconds hand. There is a date aperture window underneath a Cyclops magnification bubble at the 3 o'clock position (It's non quick-set). It's a Certified Official Swiss Chronometer (COSC). It's water resistant, and the 11mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 1570 movement is rhodium-plated, with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 26 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, reference 1500, was introduced in 1962, and it was produced into the late 1970s.
