This is a stainless steel Panerai Radiomir 1936 Special Edition California, PAM249. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel tang buckle, and a scratch resistant non-reflective sapphire crystal. The 47mm diameter solid three-body case, stepped Panerai bezel, and removable wire lugs are polished. It includes a sapphire display case back secured with 4 screws, and a screwed-down winding crown. The dial is black with luminous Arabic and Roman numeral hour index markers, an outer minute track, and luminous blued steel baton hands. It's a certified official Swiss chronometer (COSC), it's water resistant to 30 meters/100 feet, and it has a 56-hour power reserve at full wind. This is an I series production first introduced in 2007, and the 15.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The manual winding Panerai caliber OP X movement is rhodium-plated with special Panerai decoration. It's constructed with 17 jewels and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions, a self-compensating flat balance-spring, and a swan neck regulator. Panerai produced this watch in a limited edition of 1936 examples, with the 1936 referring to the year when they created the first prototypes of the model now known as "Radiomir" for the frogman commandos of the First Submarine Group Command of the Royal Italian Navy.
