This is a vintage c. 1958 "staybrite" stainless steel IWC Ingenieur, 666 AD. It has an integral stainless steel link bracelet with an IWC stainless double deployant clasp, and an acrylic crystal. The 36.2mm diameter solid three-body case, solid screw-down case back, flat bezel, and downturned lugs are polished/brushed. The dial is silver with applied faceted baton hour index markers, luminescent index dots, an outer minute/seconds track, luminous steel dauphine hands, and a central sweep seconds hand. There is a square date aperture at the 3 o'clock position, and it has an antimagnetic soft iron core and cap to protect the movement against magnetic fields. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet. The 13.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding IWC caliber 8531 movement is rhodium plated, with oeil de perdrix embellishment, and a nickel-finished lever movement. It's constructed with 21 jewels, a patented Pellaton winding system that makes the movement extremely shock proof by using the flexible (winding) rotor bridge. It has a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperature and 5 positions, a self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring, and a micro-regulator. In 1950, IWC technical director Albert Pellaton debuted his first automatic wound mechanism using his innovative Pawl-winding system instead of traditional reciprocal gears. The first Ingenieur automatic winding watch debuted in 1955; this model was introduced in 1958.
