This is an 18K yellow gold Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Duoface 272.1.54. It has a solid, five-body polished and brushed Art Deco-style case with a reeded/striped bezel and integral lugs. Both the front and reverso dials are two-tone silver with areas of guilloche decoration. The front face has black Blued steel epee hands. The back face has an off-center ring with applied steel dart hour index markers, and luminous Arabic numerals on a plain reserve with luminous steel lozenge hands. There is a second sub dial at 6 o'clock for the second 24-hour time zone, with night and day apertures on the left and right. The leather alligator strap has a matching 18K yellow gold buckle, and the watch is water resistant to 25 meters. The manual wind Jaeger LeCoultre calibre 854 movement is copper colored with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 21 jewels, and a shock absorber mechanism. It has a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance adjusted to heat, cold, and 5 positions, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. In 1931 Jaeger-LeCoultre's Cesar de Trey and French designer Renee-Alfred Chauvot designed the innovative Art Deco style Reverso watch upon a challenge from polo players to make a wristwatch that would withstand the abuse of their active sport. The Duoface debuted in 1994, the radical concept being the reading of a second time zone on the back face of the reversible watch.
