It has a solid case back with 8 screws and the high relief "Overseas" ship logo, a screw down protected winding crown, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The 37mm diameter solid two-body case, bracelet, and notched bezel are polished/brushed. The dial is black with applied fancy steel Arabic numeral hour markers with luminous inserts, applied square faceted steel baton hour indexes, and a perimeter luminous white minute/seconds track. There is a steel-rimmed aperture window for the date at the 3 o'clock position, and it has luminous steel baton hands with a center sweep seconds hand. It includes a Certified Official Superlative Chronometer rating, and it has a 40-hour power reserve at full wind. It's water resistant to 150 meters/500 feet, and the 8mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Vacheron & Constantin Overseas Automatic 42042/423A has a mechanical automatic self-winding Vacheron Constantin caliber 1310 movement that's rhodium-plated, with fausses côtes embellishment. It's constructed with 27 jewels, and a shock absorber mechanism. It includes a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a micrometer regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). Vacheron Constantin introduced the Overseas in 1996. The distinctive bezel has a Maltese cross inspired design, which reflects the Vacheron logo at 12 o'clock.
