More about Master Grand Reveil Q.P Steel

This is a stainless steel Jaeger LeCoultre Master Grand Reveil, 163.84.2A. It has a leather strap with a stainless steel deployant buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The 43mm diameter solid two-body case, inclined bezel, downturned lugs and solid case back secured with four screws are polished. The crown that sets the alarm is at 2 o'clock, while the winding and time setting crown is at the 4 o'clock position. A switch that's located on the band between 9 and 10 o'clock controls the alarm ring/vibrate indicator; the alarm indicator is between 10 and 11 o'clock on the dial. There is a 24-hour subsidiary dial with night/day and moon phases of both northern and southern hemispheres at 6 o'clock, and a day-of-the-week dial is at 3 o'clock. The day-of-the-month dial is at 9 o'clock, and a dial with the months and a double aperture window for the year are at 12. The dial is silver with applied dart index hour markers and luminescent dots on an outer minute/second/alarm track. There are steel alpha hands, a center red-tipped alarm hand, and a center sweep second hand. It's water resistant to 50 meters/165 feet, with a 45-hour power reserve, and the 16mm thick case, dial, and mechanism are signed. The automatic self-winding Jaeger LeCoultre caliber 909/1-440C movement is rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 36 jewels, 363 components, and a single barrel. It has a shock absorber mechanism, a straight-line lever escapement, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 4 positions, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). Jaeger LeCoultre debuted their first Master Control watches in 1992. They passed a six-week, 1000-hour series of tests that became the benchmark examination for all JLC timepieces. This watch combines a perpetual calendar and a mechanical alarm function that offers the choice between ring and vibrate mode, a unique split four-digit year display, and the moon phases in both hemispheres. "Reveil" was originally the French word for alarm, adopted from the morning military bugle call.
