More about Marine Chronograph Steel

This is a stainless steel Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronograph 353-22. It has an integral stainless steel link bracelet with a folding deployment buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a screw down winding crown, screw down round chronograph push buttons, and a solid case back secured with 4 screws and engraved with the names of the 18 competitions in which Ulysse Nardin won a gold medal, the model name, reference number, and depth rating. There is an engraved serial number on a screwed plate on the left-side case band, and the 38mm diameter solid three-body case, gently curved lugs, and knurled stepped bezel, are polished. There is a luminous white tachymeter scale to 500 UPH around the perimeter, and the dial is black with applied silver steel Arabic numeral hour markers, and applied luminous baton indices around a luminous white minute/second chronograph scale. There is a date aperture window between 4 and 5 o'clock. It includes fancy steel hands with luminous inserts, and a luminous white center sweep chronograph hand with a round counter balance and a red needle tip. There are three recessed black subsidiary dials with luminous white markers and Arabic numerals, and red/white luminous indicator hands, including a 30-minute chronograph totalizer at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour totalizer at 6 o'clock, and there is a running small seconds register at the 3 o'clock position. It's water resistant to 200 meters/660 feet, and it has a 42-hour power reserve at full winding. The 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronograph 353-22 has a mechanical automatic self-winding UN 35 (base ETA 2892-A2) with a Dubois Depraz chronograph modified movement. It's rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve and oeil-de-perdrix embellishment, and it's constructed with 21 jewels, a free-sprung monometallic balance, and a shock absorber device. It includes a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a hacking seconds device for precision time setting. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). The Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronograph 353-22 was introduced in the 2000's.
