More about Pilot Spitfire Rattapante White Dial SS/SS 42MM

This is an 18K stainless steel IWC Pilot (Flieger) Double Chronograph, 3713. It has an integral stainless steel bracelet. The solid two-body case, downturned lugs, stepped bezel, and screw-down case back with logo are polished and brushed. It has a dust cap, a screwed-down winding crown, a sapphire crystal, and round pushbuttons with a third at 10 o'clock that activates the split-second chronograph function. The dial is two-toned silver with applied silver Arabic numeral hour marker indexes, and an outer minute and 1/5 seconds track with Arabic numerals spaced every five seconds. It has luminescent steel lozenge hands and luminescent arrow and square hour indicators at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. Day and date aperture windows are at 3 o'clock, and a small seconds subsidiary dial is at 9 o'clock. A 12-hour dial is at 6 o'clock, and a 30-minute register is at 12. It's water resistant to 150 feet, and has a 44-hour power reserve. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. The automatic winding IWC caliber 79230 movement is rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 29 jewels, a shock absorber mechanism, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, a soft iron inner core that's anti-magnetic, and a self-compensating flat balance spring that's adjusted to 5 positions. It has an index regulator, and a hacking seconds mechanism. This definitive pilot's watch takes inspiration from the cockpit instrumentation and altimeter-like display of the Spitfire of the 1930's.
