More about GST Deep One Titanum

This is an extremely rare titanium IWC Deep One GST 3527. It has an integral titanium link bracelet, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has three screw-down winding crowns; the crown at 2 o'clock adjusts the matte black inner rotating bezel with luminous yellow Arabic numeral markers and 15-minute dive warning, and the crown at 4 o'clock resets the depth gauge that measures the current and maximum depth. It is also perforated to fit onto the end of an external pressure tube (included) for testing the depth measuring mechanism that is pre-set to an environmental pressure of 1013.25 millibars at 15 degrees. The center crown has a fish symbol signifying water-resistance to 100 meters/330 feet. There is a screw-down solid case back engraved in high relief with "INTERNATIONAL WACH CO. – SCHAFFHAUSEN," a serial number, and the Deep One whirling logo is in the center. The 43mm diameter solid case, straight lugs, bracelet, and flat bezel are all brushed. The dial is black with luminous baton hour markers around a minute scale. It has a luminous white baton steel hour hand, and a luminous yellow steel minute hand, a center steel luminous hand with a skeletonized broad arrow tip in white that measures the depth, and there is a center steel hand with a luminous skeletonized yellow broad arrow tip that indicates the greatest depth during a dive. These show the meters on a perimeter depth scale with luminous yellow square meter markers and white Arabic numerals every 10 meters to 45. There is a date aperture window at 3 o'clock, and a luminous running seconds subsidiary dial at the 6 o'clock position. It has a 38-hour power reserve at full wind, and the 14.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This IWC Deep One GST 3527 has a mechanical automatic self-winding IWC caliber 8914 movement (based on a Jaeger-LeCoultre 891 engine). It's rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 40 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to 5 positions, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a micrometer regulator. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph(4Hz). The IWC Deep One GST 3527 was introduced in 1999, the first diver's watch with a mechanical depth gauge up to 45 meters. The mechanical depth system is a coiled Bourdon tube that is a pressure-sensing element; as water enters the tube, it goes rigid. This system is independent from the watch movement. Only about 500 examples were produced between 1999 and 2002.
