This is a vintage c. 1950's 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Calatrava, 96J. It has an alligator leather strap with 18k Yellow Gold tang buckle, and an acrylic crystal. The 30.5mm diameter solid two-body round case, flat raised bezel, downturned lugs, and Snap-on back are polished/brushed. The matte silver dial has applied faceted gold baton hour markers and dauphine hands, and an outer silver dot minute track. There is a subsidiary constant seconds dial at 6 o'clock. The dial is silver with applied yellow gold faceted baton hour indexes, and alpha hands. It has an outer dot minute track, and the 8.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are signed. The mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 27-400 lever movement is nickel-finished, with the gold stamp of the Geneva quality seal. It's constructed with 18 jewels, a precision regulator, and a bi-metallic compensation balance that adjusts for cold, heat, isochronism, and 5 positions. This model 96 is a direct precursor to the current line; it harkens back to 1932 and the debut of Patek's first Calatrava watches after the Stern brothers acquired the company. This example was produced circa 1950's.
