More about GMT Master II 18K YG/YG Black Dial Circa 1984

This is a vintage c. 1985 18K yellow gold Rolex GMT Master Oyster Perpetual Date, 16758. It has an integral 18K yellow gold Jubilee bracelet with a double deployant clasp, a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, and a protected screwed-down crown. The 40mm diameter solid three-body case, bracelet, and graduated bi-directional revolving black-inset bezel are brushed/polished. There are 24-hour Arabic numeral hour markers for the second time zone on the bezel. The quickset date aperture is at the 3 o'clock position underneath a Cyclops magnifying lens bubble. The dial is black with luminescent gold round, triangle, and baton hour indexes, luminous yellow gold skeleton hands, and an outer minute/ seconds track. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and the 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 3075 movement is rhodium-plated, with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment, and a straight-line lever escapement. It's constructed with 27 jewels, a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperatures and five positions, and a free-sprung self-compensating Breguet balance spring. It includes Microstella regulating screws and a hacking seconds mechanism. This model was produced from 1981 to 1988.
