More about Calatrava 18K RG

This is an 18K rose gold Patek Philippe Calatrava 3919R-001. It has an alligator leather strap with an 18k rose gold tang buckle, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a solid case back and the gold crown on a split stem is signed with the Calatrava cross. The 33mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, and the distinctive double rows of “hobnails” surrounding the bezel that are reminiscent of the edge of a fine coin, are polished/brushed. The dial is white faux-enamel with oxidized black gold feuille hands and Roman numeral hour markers. There is a small seconds subsidiary dial at the 6 o'clock position, and it has a 44-hour power reserve. It's water resistant to 25 meters/80 feet, and the 6.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical manual winding Patek Philippe caliber 215 PS movement is rhodium plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It has the hallmark of the quality seal of Geneva, and the Patek Philippe seal, a shock absorber mechanism, and a Gyromax balance that's adjusted for cold, heat, isochronism and 5 positions. It's constructed with 18 jewels, 130 components, a straight-line lever escapement, and a self-compensating free-sprung balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). This design was introduced in 1985 and was replaced by this one, a slightly larger version in 2006 to assuage the growing demand for larger cases.
