More about Mark XVI Spitfire SS Silver Dial

This is a stainless steel IWC Mark XVI Pilot, reference IW325502. It has an alligator strap with a stainless steel IWC tang buckle, and a domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. There is a solid screw-down case back engraved with "International Watch Company – Fliegeruhr (Pilot Watch)," a screw-in winding crown, and an additional soft iron inner case for shielding against magnetic fields. The 39mm diameter solid two-body case, downturned lugs, and angled bezel are polished/brushed satin. The two-tiered dial has a raised central silver guilloche circle with applied faceted luminescent Arabic numeral hour markers, baton, and triangle indices. It has an angled "cupped" steel perimeter with a radial 60-minute/second scale with Arabic numerals every five minutes. It has luminous leaf hands, and a center sweep second hand. There is a date aperture window at the 3 o'clock position. It has a power reserve of 42-hours at full wind, and it is water resistant to 60 meters/200 feet. The 10.2mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. The mechanical automatic self-winding IWC caliber 30110 movement is rhodium-plated. It's constructed with 21 jewels, a shock absorber deice, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). This IWC Mark XVI Pilot, reference IW325502, is based on the original 1930's Pilot's watch, although it's larger and the dial has been updated.
