More about Explorer I 36MM

This is a 904L stainless steel Rolex Explorer I 114270. It has a stainless steel Oyster bracelet (Ref. 78690) with a double folding deployment clasp, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. There is a solid screw-down case back, and a screw-down Twinlock winding crown. The 36mm diameter solid three-body case, integral downturned lugs, and angled bezel are polished/brushed. It has a black dial with applied faceted steel baton indices with a luminous triangle at 12 o'clock, applied luminous steel Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, Rolex luminous Superluminova "Mercedes" baton hands, a perimeter minute/seconds track, and a center sweep seconds hand with a luminous circle pointer. It has a Certified Official Superlative Chronometer (COSC) rating, and it's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet. The 12mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex Explorer I 114270 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 3130 movement that's rhodium-plated, with oeil-de-perdrix embellishment. It's constructed with 31 jewels, an Incabloc shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that's adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, a self-compensating free- sprung Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, and a hacking seconds mechanism for precision time setting. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz). The Rolex Explorer I 114270 with the 3130 movement was introduced in 2000, and was produced until 2009.
